The Raley’s Supermarket’s Something Extra Try-It program is currently promoting its holiday infused drinks. Participants receive a free plastic cocktail shaker, a recipe booklet, and coupons toward AVA vodka, store brand juice blends, fresh herbs, and drinkware. The timely promotion started right before the holidays and many reviews have been posted on the program’s website. AVA Vodka is a French product distilled 5 times with hints of citrus and a wisp of vanilla, according to the recipe booklet. In general, the participants welcome the smoothness of the beverage but several reviewers also found it too smooth. Many recipes in the booklet feature cranberry juice with or without alcohol. Below is one of the recipes:
Muddle a handful of fresh cranberries in a glass by smashing against the side with a spoon. Add 2.5 oz. Absolut Cherrykran Vodka, 1.5 oz. chocolate milk, and 1.5 oz. rum. Garnish with fresh cranberries.
Something Extra Try-It is under the Raley’s Supermarket’s consumer loyalty program Something Extra. Anyone can join it (free) but the participation to the programs is by invitation only. Participants usually receive discounts for certain products the store carries. They are expected to try the products and give feedback. Raley’s also strongly encourage the participants to talk about the promoted products with people via various channels including Facebook, Twitter, and Pinterest. Currently, three programs are in progress: Holiday Infused Drinks, Not Hill Trading Co. Frozen Appetizers, and Muesli Crunch.
