“Superman Renounces His U.S. Citizenship in 900th Issue of Action Comics,” an April 28 Fox News headline declares.
In Action Comics’ new record-breaking 900th issue, the iconic super hero renounces his U.S citizenship following a clash with the federal government.
The Man of Steel will now be fighting for (un?)truth, (in?)justice and the globalist way, making his announcement at the UN of all places. You know, the place that displays a sculpture that looks like someone who can bend steel in his bare hands got hold of it...
Some decry this as hate-America-first “liberals” who have taken over at DC Comics continuing the media's assault on Smallville values. Others remind us that Kal-El is an undocumented alien anyway. And what this will do to Clark Kent’s IRS status with his Daily Planet income—and his legal work status in general if he becomes a man without a country—is a matter we’ll need to see if the writers of this new direction in the superhero’s life take into consideration (say, why does a guy who can squeeze lumps of coal into diamonds need a salary anyway?).
And there’s one other legal matter they probably haven’t considered, a prohibition against owning firearms established in United States Code. He’s forbidden to even touch a gun under two federal disabilities:
5) who, being an alien—
(A) is illegally or unlawfully in the United States…
and
(7) who, having been a citizen of the United States, has renounced his citizenship;
Albeit it seems items 5 and 7 are mutually exclusive…but either way, when he takes a gun from a crook and bends it in his hands, he’ll be committing a federal felony, something no less an authority than NRA’s Wayne LaPierre (who will be celebrating American values this weekend) says he ought to get 10 years for.
Here’s the thing—if we can’t trust the guy with a gun, what in the world are we doing letting him fly around at large using super strength, heat vision, and all those other devastating powers at his disposal…?
