SuperLotto Plus jackpot is $12 million

The SuperLotto Plus lottery jackpot stands at $12 million, the California Lottery Commission announced Saturday in an email alert.

Number drawings occur on Saturdays and Wednesdays after entry time closes at 7:45 p.m. Results are usually available beginning at around 8:05 p.m.

There was no jackpot winner on Jan. 9, when it totaled $11 million, so the jackpot was increased for Saturday’s drawing.

Two winning tickets for about $25,000 each were drawn on Jan. 9.

Tickets are $1 each.

Players can either "pick five lucky numbers from 1 to 47 and one MEGA number from 1 to 27 on a SuperLotto Plus playslip" or "you can select Quick Pick for your first five numbers, the one MEGA number or all six numbers and the computer will randomly generate numbers for you."

To find an authorized ticket outlet, type your zip code into the box on the retailers' page.

A portion of lottery proceeds goes to California public schools.

"Our promise to California is to provide supplemental funding to California public education on all levels from kindergarten through higher education, plus several specialized schools," the commission said. "And since 1985, we’ve kept that promise with $25 billion in Lottery funds to public education."
