The 13 member Superintendent Search Committee appointed by the Hartford Board of Education, in partnership with Achieve Hartford!, will be conducting three community forums this week. The three forums will be held on Wednesday April 16 at the Capital Community College at 950 Main Street in Hartford in the 11th floor auditorium. Each forum will target a specific audience and the two finalists will answer previously collected and categorized questions.
The first forum will be held from 7:30 a.m. to 9:00 a.m. with corporate, philanthropy, nonprofit, policy and community partners as the target audience. Attendees will be divided into two or three groups and both finalists will rotate at 25 minute intervals, answering questions collected previously via e-mail solicitation.
The second forum will target educators and district administrators. This forum will be held from 3:30 p.m. to 5:30 p.m. A list of six previously collected questions from educators and administrators will be posed to the finalists. Each candidate will have 30 minutes to answer the same six questions asked by pre-selected members of the audience.
The third forum, targeting students, family and the community, will be held from 6:30 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. Pre-selected questions solicited through newspapers, community partners and online publications will be posed to the finalists. As with the second forum, each finalist will have 30 minutes to answer the same questions.
At the end of each forum, attendees will be asked to complete feedback forms on each candidate. The feedback will be compiled by Achieve Hartford! and submitted to the search committee for consideration.
The selected finalist will begin serving as the Superintendent of Hartford Public Schools on July 1, 2014.
