Superbowl recipes: Mom's muffuletta sandwich recipe

Mom used a round of ciabatta for these, since that was all the store had. The ciabatta was delicious in it though!

Find everything you need, including fresh artisan breads, at your local Meijer.

  • round loaf of bread
  • olive oil
  • sliced Genoa salami
  • thin sliced smoked ham
  • sliced provolone cheese
  • thinly sliced red onion
  • olive blend (Mom used green and black olives, minced celery and garlic)
  1. Slice loaf in half lengthwise, and scoop out a little of the inside. Brush inside with olive oil.
  2. Layer salami, ham, provolone, red onion and olive blend inside bread half. Wrap tightly in plastic wrap and refrigerate several hours.
  3. Slice sandwich into wedges and serve.
