Superbowl HDTV deals

While the Superbowl technically isn't the best time to buy an HDTV it doesn't mean there are not deals out there at this time of year. There are a few ways you'll find a deal this time of year.Generally manufacturers start getting rid of old models following CES, this is usually done in anticipation of new models that hit shelves in a couple of months. This can mean great deals on last year's models. Secondly there are usually post Christmas open box TVs floating around. These might have been displays, or someone decided that that 46" they got for Christmas was just too small. A quick trip over to Best Buy at the McKinley mall revealed they were running a sale for an additional 10% off their open box merchandise, meaning they had a few 42" TVs in the $300 range. Of course there are the Superbowl sales but these generally are not quite as cheap as you'll find TVs in a few months. However if you need a TV for the big game it is not too late to pick one up tomorrow or Saturday and be up and running by game time.
