Some details may have been leaked in regards to the upcoming "Super Smash Bros 4" for Wii U. According to a report from Segment Next on July 17, the console version of the latest installment in the series is rumored to be coming out on Nov. 21. Nintendo has only announced that the software product is due to come out sometime during the holiday season of this year.
The rumored "Super Smash Bros 4" for Wii U release date apparently came from a manager at GameStop. The individual also stated that the video game is going to be bundled with an Amiibo, a figurine that takes advantage of the NFC technology of the Wii U GamePad controller. The action figure is capable of sending and receiving data. In this case, players will be able "teach" custom artificial intelligence fighters to battle against other Amiibo figures.
The figurines can also be used across different Wii U games. For example, the Mario Amiibo is compatible with the recently-released "Mario Kart 8" as well as the upcoming crossover fighting game. The first set is slated to arrive during the holiday season, perhaps on the same date as the latest "Super Smash Bros" video game.
Finally, Nintendo recently teased that Rayman is going to be added to the cast of "Super Smash Bros 4" for Wii U. Only a screenshot of a collectible trophy has been shown so far, however. Rayman could end up joining Mega Man, Pac-Man and Sonic as a third-party playable character in the upcoming title although an official confirmation has still not yet been made.
"Super Smash Bros 4" for 3DS, which is also in development, will be the first of the two iterations to be released. The handheld game has a release date of Oct. 2 after being pushed back from a summer launch. You can find a screenshot from the Wii U game near the top of this article (via the official Facebook website for the series).
