Nintendo of America has confirmed that Super Smash Bros. 4 for Wii U will be released in 2014. Despite some fears that the game may slip into early 2015, the latest release schedule from Nintendo reconfirms that the game is on track for a 2014 Holiday release. According to a report by Forbes from Sept. 2, Nintendo of America has issued a lengthy new schedule highlighting a number of highly anticipated Wii U titles throughout the remainder of 2014 and well into 2015.
As the weeks advance and the holiday season inches ever closer, many have begun to wonder whether Super Smash Bros. 4 for Wii U would slip into early 2015. Thankfully, this newly released schedule, which can be seen here, confirms that Super Smash Bros. and Captain Toad will closeout 2014 for Wii U. Though Nintendo has not yet announced an official release date for Super Smash Bros. Wii U, it is reassuring to see that the game is still scheduled for release in 2014.
Several retailers have advertised Nov. release dates for Super Smash Bros. 4 for Wii U. Given Nintendo’s history of releasing a major game the week before Black Friday, the odds of Super Smash Bros. Wii U releasing around then seem favorable. Of course, Nintendo will also be launching Amiibo later this year, with the initial launch lineup currently available for pre-order. Given that the Amiibo are Smash Bros. themed, it would seem highly unlikely one would launch without the other this year.
The Nintendo 3DS version of Super Smash Bros. 4 will be released on Oct. 3 in North America. If that wait is too long for you and you happen to own a Nintendo 3DS, then we suggest you give Kirby Fighters Deluxe a chance – find our full review here.
