Masahiro Sakurai has posted the first details in regards to the turnip attack used by Villager in the upcoming Nintendo Wii U and Nintendo 3DS video game, “Super Smash Bros. 4.” According to a report from Mii Gamer on Dec. 2, the game director revealed that the vegetable is a part of the “up-air and down-air attacks” for the new fighter.

In the “Animal Crossing” series, turnips are used as stocks. Players will be able to buy and sell the vegetable according to the fluctuating price. This element will also be present in “Super Smash Bros. 4.” Masahiro Sakurai hinted that the amount of turnips that the villager can used during an attack could be based on the prices of the item for that particular day. You can find the screen showcasing one of the aforementioned attacks from Villager, as well as some other shots from the crossover fighting game, in the slideshow to the left of this article and the comments from the game director below:

Turnips are used in the Villager’s up-air and down-air attacks. Perhaps because the turnip prices fluctuate depending on the day’s market, the number of turnips that appear changes every time. How cute.

Villager is the first newcomer to be introduced for “Super Smash Bros. 4.” He was featured in the debut trailer for the sequel that was shown during the Electronic Entertainment Expo.

The unique fighter will be playable in both the console and handheld iterations of the software product, which is coming out in North America next year.
