A pair of female characters has been revealed regarding “Super Smash Bros 4” for Wii U and 3DS. According to a report from Nintendo Life on April 12, Sheik and Zero Suit Samus will come back to the roster of the crossover fighting series. Both fighters are going to be accessed differently in the upcoming title, however.

Sheik originated from “The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time,” which was released in 1998 for the Nintendo 64. In both “Super Smash Bros Brawl” and “Super Smash Bros Melee,” she can be made playable by using a transforming move while playing as Zelda. Players can switch between the two instantly while on the battlefield. With “Super Smash Bros 4” for Wii U and 3DS, however, Sheik is a standalone character independent of Zelda.

The situation is similar when it comes to Zero Suit Samus. The character first appeared in “Super Smash Bros Brawl” where she can be accessed while using the final smash attack of Samus. She will then transform back into her regular fully-armored suit when using the same move again. Zero Suit Samus will be treated as an independent character in “Super Smash Bros 4” for Wii U and 3DS.

Nearly 30 characters have been confirmed so far for the upcoming title. With the additions of Sheik and Zero Suit Samus, the amount of playable female fighters has been increased to seven. The other five participants are Peach, Rosalina, Samus, Wii Fit Trainer and Zelda.

It seems like Nintendo could be close to announcing all of the characters for the roster as “Super Smash Bros 4” for 3DS will be coming out in the summer. Although “Super Smash Bros 4” for Wii U won’t be released until the winter, both titles are going to share the same cast of fighters.
