Masahiro Sakurai, director of the Super Smash Bros. series, has revealed and discussed a number of upgrades that a character will receive in Super Smash Bros. 4 for Wii U and 3DS. According to a report by JustPushStart from Feb. 4, the Pokémon character Lucario has been upgraded in terms of strength and skill when compared to his Brawl counterpart.

With a focus on his Aura abilities, Lucario has greater speed and more powerful attacks than he did in Super Smash Bros. Brawl for Wii. One of Lucario’s special moves, ExtremeSpeed, has received a considerable boost in power and a major upgrade in range.

Depending on the charge of Aura, the ExtremeSpeed skill will vary in effectiveness. At full charge, Lucario will travel extremely far, but the attack will be considerably more powerful. Find Sakurai’s full explanation below:

When Lucario shoots out Aura from its hands to fly with ExtremeSpeed, you can control its flight direction. If Lucario's Aura is fully charged, it can fly extremely far, so be careful not to accidentally launch out of the area.

Another one of Lucario’s attacks has also been upgraded. The Aura Sphere has grown in size considerably and is faster and more powerful than before. The Aura Sphere has two states: small and weak, or large and powerful. When fully charged, the Aura Sphere is both fast and powerful. Find further details below in Sakurai’s detailed statement:

A size comparison of Lucario's standard special attack, Aura Sphere, in its weakest and strongest states. The attack is faster and more powerful when the Aura Sphere is bigger.

Super Smash Bros. 4 will be released for Wii U and Nintendo 3DS in 2014. No release date has been announced.
