Masahiro Sakurai has provided a first look at a new attack item in the upcoming Nintendo Wii U and Nintendo 3DS video game, “Super Smash Bros. 4.” According to a report by Nintendo Everything on Aug. 16, the powerful X Bomb can cause a chain explosion across the stage.
The game director stated that the new bomb item originated in “Kid Icarus: Uprising.” The handheld video game was first released for the Nintendo 3DS on March 23, 2012. It was developed by Masahiro Sakurai and the rest of his team at Sora, the same staff that is now developing “Super Smash Bros. 4.” The game director also clarified that the X Bomb is not based on “Meteos,” a Nintendo DS video game that came out in 2005. You can check out his comments below (courtesy of Nintendo Everything):
Here’s the X Bomb from Kid Icarus: Uprising. Not to be mistaken for the one from Meteos.
The X Bomb creates a cross-shaped explosion that covers the entire stage. Players who are unfortunate enough to get caught up with the blast will be dealt massive damage. You can check the screen of the item in action, along with several other shots, in the slideshow at the top of this article.
