Masahiro Sakurai has revealed additional changes to Diddy Kong in the upcoming “Super Smash Bros 4” for Wii U and 3DS. According to a report from Mii Gamer on March 20, the Peanut Popgun can now hurt enemies when it explodes.
The game director admitted that getting the attack to connect will be difficult. However, the maneuver should be able to break an opponent’s shield and knock them back a big distance. You can view a screen showcasing the Peanut Popgun, along with other shots from the upcoming title, in the slideshow to the left side of this article. Masahiro Sakurai’s statement on the Diddy Kong changes can be found below:
The Peanut Popgun now deals a powerful attack when it explodes. It’ll be difficult to hit your target, but when you succeed, the explosion will really blow your enemies away. Give it a shot when you break someone’s shield.
Diddy Kong previously appeared in “Super Smash Bros Brawl.” The Peanut Popgun did not provide any positive effects when exploding in the prior title. In fact, the move causes the character to be temporary stunned, leaving him open for attack. The development team decided to switch things up with “Super Smash Bros 4” for Wii U and 3DS, however.
Diddy Kong was announced for the upcoming title to coincide with the release of “Donkey Kong Country: Tropical Freeze” on the Nintendo Wii U earlier this year. The returning fighter will be playable in both the 3DS and Wii U iterations of “Super Smash Bros 4,” both of which should be hitting store shelves sometime later this year.
