New details have been revealed in regards to the powers of two legendary pocket monsters from "Pokemon X" and "Pokemon Y" in the upcoming "Super Smash Bros. 4" for Wii U and 3DS. According to a report from Air Herald on Aug. 10, Masahiro Sakurai confirmed that the two creatures won't be directly attacking the other opponents when summoned in a match. Instead, both characters are going to provide supporting abilities.
Xerneas was previously confirmed to appear in the crossover fighting game. The legendary monster originated from "Pokemon X" and "Pokemon Y," which were released last year for the 3DS portable system. When summoned with the master ball in "Super Smash Bros. 4" for Wii U and 3DS, he will be using his Geomancy ability to increase the launching power on all competitors. However, the player who summoned Xerneas will get the biggest boost.
Victini, who was first seen in "Pokemon Black and "Pokemon White," can use the Victory Star ability, which gives the player two distinct advantages. The first of which is increasing the attack power as more damage can be dealt. The other benefit is the prevention of flinching, which should give the player the ability to attack without being interrupted.
The "Pokemon" franchise is already one of the most represented intellectual properties in "Super Smash Bros 4" for Wii U and 3DS. Along with being able to summon some of the pocket monsters, players can also directly control Charizard, Greninja (who also came from the aforementioned "Pokemon X" and "Pokemon Y" video games), Lucario as well as the mascot, Pikachu. Nintendo could also be announcing more soon as the publisher is planning to reveal the entire cast of playable characters in the near future.
Players will be able to get their hands on "Super Smash Bros. 4" for 3DS first as the portable version is coming out in less than two months on Oct. 3. The Wii U iteration should end up arriving sometime later this holiday season.
