I think "trending" is such stupid, overused word so I won't use. However between yesterday and today five people asked me about the following two items:
- Garcinia Cambrogia
- Old School New Body Workout System
Unsurprising was this
- Four questions were about the GS supplement
- One person asked about the workouts.
Most people who say they want to lose weight and get fit are hoping for a pill (or anything) that replaces effort.
The pill-poppers are positive thinkers, but in a moronic sort of way, because it's not going to happen.
A person who wants to look and feel great has to take care of themselves. That means a sane exercise and nutrition program, which appears to be more than most folks are willing to do. Look around.
The newest fat loss product -- on the Internet. I could not be less interested.
If a fat loss pill is your strategy for becoming fit, have at it.
About one out of 20 people remains fit from childhood, or gets back to fit and stays there. That's five percent. Again, look.
The percentage is low because most people don't seem to think it is worth the effort.
Those same people usually whine about how they can't lose weight. Many of them start a program, make progress, and go right back to their old ways.
Trouble with weight-loss
If you lose weight and don't exercise, you still look like a marshmallow.
If you lose weight by starving, you can not maintain that.
Either way, you still get to about not looking as good as everybody else, and so what is the sense of losing weight. Here is where I would say "Tu eres un idiota!" if I was positive nobody understood Spanish.
Taking advantage of fat and out of shape (FOOS) people
I admit it is tempting to throw together a fitness program, market the heck out of it, and take advantage of all the FOOS people who are desperate for something that requires no effort. You just tell them it doesn't take any effort.
Unfortunately my parents did not prepare me for the real world, and so I'm not good at stuff like that.
Getting fit takes effort. Not hours and hours, not bone-crushing, gut wrenching work, but effort.
However anybody can do it in a reasonably short period -- if they WANT to make it happen. Most really don't.
I like to go to the gym, because it is the one and only thing I do that I absolutely, positively know will work.
That said, I am way into short duration, intense workouts that are effective and quickly finished.
I've written about that kind fitness program for years.
I even get paid to show people how to do it. But I am covered for several months so don't bother to ask.
But you can do this instead
I suggest you look at the Old School video and other programs that will show up at the end of the video. There are a growing number of short, intense workout strategies.
The only other advice I suggest is that you gradually work up to severe intensity. Give yourself some acclimation time if you have not been working out. Build up gradually.
I also suggest that even if you don't want to abandon your current routine, try some weighted cardio work such as burpees. Just foucus on form so you get the full benefits.
If anybody cares, my workouts are 23 sets of one minute work, and 25 seconds rest between. This is the best workout timing device on earth for that kind of workout, and just about any kind of workout. Twenty bucks and an amazing value. Makes any workout much more enjoyable and more effective. Does for me anyhow.
As for the magic weight loss pill
If you want to give Garcinia Cambrosia a try, I say have it, maybe it works.
But we should all do this about weight loss and fitness: Shut up with reasons we can't workout and eat like grown-ups instead of out-of-control children.
