Framingham, MA - Earlier today and continuing through tomorrow, Sunday, November 20th, fans of sci-fi, horror, and action adventure arrived in droves at the Sheraton located at 1657 Worcester Road. Spilled out beyond the conference room, tables were filled with collectible action figures, original and reproduction movie posters, music memorabilia, and original art for the picking. Amidst this legion of geek-loved goods sat celebrities from all walks of the entertainment business ready and waiting to meet fans, and autograph photos for set fees.
Disney fans, while in a geek league of our own, had a fair share of buying options. New and used Disney soundtracks on glorious records, including The Fox and the Hound picture discs, popped up at several booths. Winnie the Pooh figures and plush stocked several shelves as did other character beanies like Donald Duck, Minnie Mouse, and Hamm from "Toy Story." Another eye-catcher was a packet from the 1993 Disneyana convention at Disneyland in a beautiful color folder with Mickey Mouse in marching band attire.
Among the actors appearing at Super Megafest are Sean Astin (Goonies, Lord of the Rings) who voiced Special Agent Oso on the Disney Channel and Tia Carrere (Wayne's World, numerous TV guest spots) who voiced Nani in Disney's movie, "Lilo & Stitch." Both actors were friendly especially to younger fans.
Also appearing on Sunday are: Rex Smith (Pirates of Penzance, As the World Turns), Peter Tork (The Monkees), Tracey Gold (Growing Pains), Anthony Michael Hall (Sixteen Candles, Stephen King's The Dead Zone), Paul Carafotes (All the Right Moves, Fight Club), and Daniel Logan (Star Wars: Episode II). For the complete list of stars, visit Super Megafest's website.
Fans get into the fun by dressing as their favorite characters. Saturday's turnout included Snow White, Princess Aurora, and Captain Jack Sparrow.
Tickets are available at the door for $25.00. Parking is free. Please note that if you are bringing children, there are models selling photos of themselves semi-nude on public display.
