Dirt track racing fans in the area will be converging on Syracuse in a few days, ready to take part in the annual festivities of Super DIRT Week. The five-day event gets underway on Wednesday, October 9th, culminating with the 42nd annual Syracuse 200 Super DIRTcar Big-Block Modified race on Sunday, October 13th.
Super DIRT Week events take place at three Central New York speedways: the New York State Fairgrounds Speedway, Rolling Wheels Raceway Park in Elbridge and Weedsport Speedway in Weedsport.
On Tuesday night, the Big Blocks visit Rolling Wheels for the conclusion of the Labor Day weekend Stars and Stripes 100 – action begins at 7 p.m.
On Wednesday, Super DIRT Week kicks off with practice for the Big Block Modifieds at the Fairgrounds at 3 p.m., followed by the DIRTcar 358-Mods and DIRTcar Sportsman Mods at Weedsport – action begins at 7:30 p.m.
On Thursday, Big Blocks and 358-Mods practice beginning at 10 a.m. at the Fairgrounds, followed by time trials for the 358s at 1:20 p.m. and the Big Blocks at 2:45 p.m. That evening, the World of Outlaws Late Model Series is joined by the 358s at Rolling Wheels – action gets underway at 7:30 p.m.
On Friday, early action shifts to the DIRTcar Sportsman Modifieds and DIRTcar Futures, with practice for Pro Stocks and Sportsman Mods at the Fairgrounds beginning at 1 p.m. Additional practice and qualifying sessions follow for these series: 358-Mods (2:05 p.m.), Sportsman (2:20 p.m.), Pro Stock (2:35 p.m.) and Big Blocks (2:50 p.m.). Sportsman time trials begin at 3:05 p.m., followed by DIRTcar Futures feature races beginning at 4 p.m. At 7:05 p.m. the 358-Mods take to the track for Twin 20-lappers, followed by Triple-10s for the Sportsman Mods and Triple-20s for the Big Blocks.
On Saturday, practices for the 358-Mods, Pro Stocks and Sportsman Mods kick off the day at 9:30 a.m. Pro Stock time trials at noon precede the start of the 358-Modified Series Salute the Troops 150 at 1:30 p.m. at the Fairgrounds, followed by the Sportsman Modified Championship 30 lapper at 4:30 p.m. Evening action shifts back to Rolling Wheels, where the World of Outlaws STP Sprint Car Series hits the track, joined by the Big Block “Win and You’re In” feature (winner earns 45th starting spot for Syracuse 200) – action starts at 7:30 p.m.
On Sunday, the Pro Stocks race their 25-lapper at noon, followed by the 42nd annual Syracuse 200 for the Big Blocks at 2 p.m.
Rain date for Saturday or Sunday events is Monday, October 14th.
