More than 450 players participated in the annual event. Their performance contributes to their state ranking. Draws are limited to 32 players, resulting in multiple draws.
Aron Pierce of Pasadena downed Artur Jakubowski of Dallas 2-6, 7-6 (4), 1-0 (9) in a boys 18s draw, and Janice Shin of Houston blanked Meghan O’Malley of Austin 6-0, 6-0 in a girls 18s draw.
In the boys 16s, Sam Stewart of Houston defeated Katy’s Alejandro Rodriguez 7-6 (3), 1-6, 1-0 (8), and Austin Abbrat of Spring beat Tyler Roberts of Cypress 6-0, 6-3.
Other winners in the boys 18s were Eric Rutledge of Fort Worth, Luke Lipinski and Payton Holden of Austin.
Other winners in the girls 18s were Ellie Douglas of McKinney and Hunter Bleser of New Braunfels.
Additional boys 16 winners were Trey Hilderbrand, Jaycer Calleros and Javier Valdes, all of San Antonio, and additional girls 16 winners were Chandler Carter of Dallas, Diya Menon of Plano, Kyndall Misak of Lavon and Delara Zamani of Frisco.
Matches were held on courts at Lee LeClear, Homer Ford and Memorial Park tennis centers, Lost Forest Racquet Club, Sienna Plantation, Lakeside Country Club, Clements High School and Missouri City Recreation & Tennis City. This year is the first time that a feed-in consolation was used.
