The date was set, the entertainment was set, and now the teams are set as the Baltimore Ravens will take on the 49ers of San Fransico pitting brothers again one another. For months we've known that February 3 was the date, and New Orleans was the site. That Alicia Keys would sing the national anthem, while Beyonce performs at halftime, but we never would have thought the teams would be the second seed and the fourth.
What we've also learned is that we're supposed to get excited about a Mercedes Benz commercial set to air during the Super Bowl broadcast. Along with a new Doritos commercial that has encouraged people to go to their Facebook page and vote for their favorite one. I'm sure we'll see Pepsi with a Super Bowl commercial as they traditionally have one as well as Coca-Cola. Surely Budweiser will have one and we'll just have to find out who else is willing to purchase the over 3.5 million dollar spot.
The game itself should be interesting as the game will see the Harbaugh brother; Jim, head coach of the 49ers and John, head coach of the Ravens going head-to-head for the Vince Lombardi trophy. Another element that should pose some intrigue is that the Raven and Joe Flacco will be looking to get the "elite quarterback" monkey off his back and Ray Lewis will be looking to go out in a blaze of glory. Lewis is expected and has announced that he will retire at the end of this season. As for the 49ers they will be using youth to their advantage and the ultimate proof that changing a quarterback in the middle of the season was indeed a good idea.
