Super Bowl XLVI commercials are popular before the game

Super Bowl Sunday also is famous for the quality of its TV commercials, including ads from automakers.  And this year is no different, with innovative, headline making commercials from Honda, Volkswagen and Suzuki that are proving popular even before the game.

Can’t wait for the coin toss and kick-off?  Then tune in now.

Honda’s ad for the all-new 2012 Honda CR-V already has been watched more than four million times since it went live on Honda’s Facebook channel last week. The ad features award-winning actor Matthew Broderick in a 60-second spoof of his hit film “Ferris Bueler’s Day Off”.  The commercial, “Matthew's Day Off" is aimed squarely at he active, hip Gen-Y audience growing up from their carefree twenties and thirties.  Matthew plays himself, sneaking away from a day at work to have fun with behind the wheel of his CR-V. Part of what makes the commercial so addictive is that it’s filled with references to the original film, and viewers are encouraged to spot them – and comment on the fan page.

The Volkswagen 2011 Game Day Star Wars theme commercial "The Force," became an instant classic, driving nearly 50 million YouTube hits to date. VW is trying to repeat the magic this year’s entry. "The Dog Strikes Back," about a cute dog named Bolt who is inspired to whip himself into shape by the power and performance of the 2012 Volkswagen Beetle. The final moment is a sly wink toward last year’s popular commercial.  You can catch a sneak peek of a special, extended 75-second spot online, or wait for the second quarter of the Super Bowl XLVI game to see it on TV.

Suzuki is featuring its first SuperBowl commercial with a music track by well-known rapper 50 Cent.  His song "Movin On Up" backs up the commercial called "Sled", which illustrates the exhilaration from upgrading from the usual transportation to something more entertaining. In the ad, an Eskimo trades in his dog-powered snow sled for an all-wheel-drive 2012 Kizashisport sedan.

As for me, I'd rather test drive these cars than watch them in TV commercials, especially since the models featured are all fuel efficient, eco-friendly, green transportion choices.
