One can search and find a virtual universe of apps, virtual gadgets, virtual guides and at least one snafu concerning today's (Sunday, February 5, 2012) Super Bowl XLVI. As gadgets and technology go, the NFL tells us that this Super Bowl is an historic event. The excitement has doubled for football fans and geek nerds alike as this is the first ever Super Bowl to be available on your mobile device or online.
The "virtual bad news" first - the London Daily Mail appears to have made a great "catch". It concerns the recent (Saturday, February 4, 2012) unfortunate posting on the NY Giants website. The website was reported to have posted an image/link stating that the Giants had already won the Super Bowl XLVI. They appear to have posted an actual image of this snafu on their web story. The official Giants website (as of this writing) appears to have no such mention.
Numerous reports abound on the internet about the available NFL/Super Bowl apps for your smartphones and other devices. Everybody from Fox News to Forbes is posting about available apps and online streaming applications for this historic high-tech Super Bowl. The Android Community (a daily source for a wide variety of Android related news) dropped us an email reminding us to watch the Super Bowl on our Verizon smartphone with the NFL mobile app.
One can easily get lost in searching for Super Bowl and NFL apps. The Fox News story mentions a few. A visit to the Android Market immediately points one right to the most popular Android Super Bowl app: the "Super Bowl XLVI Guide". The current price for the app is free and has had several thousand downloads. Of course, the always proficient iTunes store offers its own popular app of almost the same name: the "SB XLVI Guide".
As far as Super Bowl live streaming on your gadget, smartphone or computer/laptop - the best bet might be to connect through the NFL website online. We don't believe you will require written permission from the NFL. However, if you choose to view it live via BBC 5 - you are required to register on Facebook. The Forbes article (again) mentions and links a number of useful live streaming resources. If you are a Verizon customer (once again) you might need to use your NFL app/s if you are on the move. An aside: The Boston Globe also posted their virtual "Idiot's Guide to the Patriots".
