From the second the NFL announced that Super Bowl XLVIII would be held in a cold weather city and played outdoors, Chicken Littles all over America were second-guessing the wisdom of said decision with intrepid distress of potential wintery weather surroundings.

Though many sports handicappers believed a second Ice Bowl would be positive for the NFL, the fear of deviating from the normal warm-weather or domed stadiums was a central topic of debate.

Super Bowl Sunday is here and the weather is calling for fairly typical elements. Kickoff temperature will be about 46 degrees Fahrenheit under cloudy conditions. Although there is a 50 percent chance of rain during the day, it decreases as kickoff approaches and while there is some chance of precipitation at kickoff, it will subside completely in the first quarter.

Of possible significance is that the temperature will dip into the 30s in the fourth quarter.

Winds will be a steady 6 mph from the northwest during the game, so there will be no weather related motivation to defer the kickoff says betting expert Mike Godsey.

Most experts tell the non-descript weather forecast will cause more money to be bet on the over and expect the total to close at 49. They side will likely move to Denver (-3) within an hour of kickoff.
