The Commons Bar downtown gets into game day spirit by offering a Jammer wings special as an ode to Quentin Jammer, cornerback for the Denver Broncos and an investor in The Commons. By ordering the Jammer special, you get five wings and a draft beer of your choice for ten bucks. For $10 you can also order bottles of champagne to celebrate (or commiserate) your team.
The W San Diego is setting up something fun for its Super Bowl goers with a special viewing on its rooftop with specialty drinks AFC Punch (Skyy Blood Orange, Cedilla Acai, apple liquor, pineapple juice, and sweet & sour) and NFC Crush (American Honey Whiskey, lemon juice, cherry, lemonade, soda). Or, $20 buckets and pitchers for those who’d rather knock back some beers.
For those who want to have a true “Super Sunday Funday” can head to Harrah’s Rincon Casino & Resort for the big game. Former Chargers players Hank Bauer and Natrone Means will be appearing and partygoers can enjoy the “Pigskin Buffet” including a nacho bar, chicken wings, pizza, chips and dip, and jumbo pretzels. Attendees can also bid on classic and one-of-a-kind football memorabilia as part of the silent auction. This is a ticketed event and tickets are $20 at the door or through Ticketmaster.com. Tickets include a signature cooler and tailgate chair.
Not planning to venture out for any Super Bowl festivities? Here’s an easy snack to make (and one of my faves!) to make at-home viewing more festive.
Buffalo Chicken DIp
2 cups of cooked chicken
1 package of cream cheese
½ cup of Frank’s Red hot sauce
½ cup of ranch dressing
2 cups of shredded cheddar cheese
Spread cream cheese at bottom of pan, then layer shredded chicken, ranch, hot sauce and cheese on top. Cook at 350 for 25 minutes. Serve with chips or crackers and enjoy!
