Super Bowl recipe: Easy meatball recipe makes the best sauce ever

There’s nothing that’s better for your Super Bowl party than meatballs. When you see how easy this meatball recipe is, you will be amazed to know how many people ask for the recipe. It’s a tried and true recipe of ease and perfection. For all of the other things you need time to prepare over the holidays, why not save time when you can – this meatball recipe will practically make itself, it’s that easy.

Although you can make the meatballs themselves, it’s easier to buy them. Place the frozen meatballs in a large saucepan, cover them with water and boil them for a few minutes. This will not only thaw them, but will remove some excess fat which will drain out with the water. (Skip this step if using homemade meatballs.)

If you’d rather make your own meatballs, below is a simple recipe for Homemade Meatballs that you can make ahead and freeze. Once they have cooled, freeze them individually on a baking sheet first, then put them into a bag together to freeze. This will keep them from sticking together in the freezer.

The cocktail sauce is located in the grocery store next to the ketchup. It’s a ketchup-based product with just a little bit of kick and it is delicious in this recipe.

Easy Meatball Recipe

Ingredients for Easy Meatballs:

  • Meatballs (about two dozen)
  • 1 (16 oz.) jar grape jelly
  • 2 bottles cocktail sauce

Directions for Easy Meatballs:

Melt the jelly in a large saucepan over medium heat – stirring constantly. Stir in the cocktail sauce. Pour over the meatballs and bake at 350 degrees until heated through.

Homemade Meatball Recipe

Ingredients for Homemade Meatballs:

  • 2 pounds ground beef
  • ¼ cup finely minced onion
  • 2 eggs
  • 4 tablespoons water
  • 1 cup Italian bread crumbs

Directions for making Homemade Meatballs:

Preheat the oven to 350 degrees.

In a large bowl, mix together the ground beef, minced onion, egg, water, and bread crumbs. (It works best to mix it together with your hands.) Form the meat mixture into 1-inch balls. Place in a single layer on a baking sheet and bake for 20 – 25 minutes, turning once.
