It was the first time in Super Bowl history on Friday morning when two brothers shared the stage for a joint Super Bowl conference just two days before they face off at the 47th Superbowl in New Orleans with the Vince Lombardi Trophy at stake.
San Francisco's 49ers' head coach Jim Harbaugh will compete against his brother John Harbaugh the head coach for the Baltimore Ravens. At the press conference with the Vince Lombardi Trophy resting in between them the two brothers spoke on stage for about 30 minutes.
"The way our players have played, that is why we're here," Jim said said at the Super Bowl conference. "Not because of any coaching decisions or any way that we were when we were kids."
The 2013, XLVII Super Bowl that has also been dubbed the Harbowl, has been one of the best pregame stories in Super Bowl history as the two brothers battle head to head how say they are loyal of one another.
"We are fiercely loyal, there's no doubt," John said. "We always have been. That's definitely not ever going to change. We will continue to be fiercely loyal and protective of one another, but also of our teams."
John who is more outspoken and known to be less serious than his brother Jim, had high praise for his brother.
"There are none better than Jim Harbaugh, and I mean that seriously," Jim said. "There's no better coach in the National Football League than this guy right here."
Asked by reporters about the post-game handshake John said he hadn't really thought about that.
"I've given absolutely no consideration to the post-game hand shake or bear hug or anything else," John said. "I haven't thought about that for one second. Have you, Jim?"
Of course what would a Super Bowl be without a halftime show performance by one of the greatest names in music. After facing scrutiny for singing along with a track at President Obama's Inauguration, Beyonce is set to perform. In an attempt to silence her critics, she opened the press conference by singing the National Anthem at the halftime press conference on Thursday. At the end of the anthem she asked reporters, "Any Questions?! Beyonce said she will sing live on stage during her performance at the super bowl.
Alicia Keyes is scheduled to perform the National Anthem just before the Kickoff that is scheduled for 6:30 EST on CBS on Sunday, February 3, 2013, at the Mercedes-Benz Super-dome in New Orleans.
