Super bowl politics: Tebow, abortion, and hypocrisy on CBS. CBS is playing politics with the Super bowl, choosing to air a controversial and disturbing bit of Christian propaganda featuring darling of the Christian right Tim Tebow. The move directly contradicts stated CBS policy against airing political advocacy ads, leaving CBS guilty to the charge of hypocrisy.

Tebow, former Florida quarterback, known for writing Bible verses under his eyes and promoting his religious convictions on and off the field, is starring in the planned Super Bowl commercial that conveys an anti-abortion message.

All the broadcast networks, including CBS, have policies that rule out the broadcast of certain types of contentious advocacy ads. In 2004, CBS cited such a policy in rejecting an ad by the liberal-leaning United Church of Christ, an ad inviting gays and others who had been shunned by more conservative churches to attend the UCC church. In light of that rejection, CBS accepting the Tebow anti abortion ad is blatant hypocrisy.

Adding insult to injury, the ad's sponsor is Focus on the Family, a Christian hate group dedicated to promoting and maintaining discrimination against the LGBT community, denying a woman's right to reproductive health care and a force against comprehensive and effective sex education.

In response to the outrage, and the egg on their face, CBS has announced it is willing to consider ads from other political advocacy groups. Stay tuned, this story might have legs.

FOF a hate group? Right. Say, since when do Leftists object to people participating in politics. You guys politicize everything. BTW do CBS and Tebow have free speech rights? Would you object if Planned Parenthood ran a taxpayer-funded spot during the Super Bowl? Didn't think so... Planned Parenthood gets huge sums from taxpayers but never hear a peep from the Left on that score. So who is the hypocrite?

I am very gratified that we have someone like Tim Tebow who isn't afraid to discuss his values. So many of our traditional values are being demonized for some reason or another, with people like Mr. Tebow out there our children and grandkids have a chance.

They would've gotten a white "progressive pro-abortion libtard" major college football star for an advertisement but them cats can't play sports. Them white boy southern boys DOMINATE AT QUARTERBACK dude so get it over it. Maybe if they make whining, or licking minorities boots a sport the white libtards can get in on some the action.

Is abortion strictly a political topic or is it a moral topic? I guess the progressives would have to answer political since they don't really understand the concept of morality, especially traditional morality.

Wow. Guess freedom of speech only matters if you are on the left. No one on the right gets that right. Good for CBS for doing something right and showing what the possibilities are for women who choose life.
