The Super Bowl halftime show 2014 will have Bruno Mars headlining the performances at MetLife Stadium Sunday. The Hollywood Reporter reports Jan. 30 that Mars shared he will have three gallons of hairspray and "heaters on everything." He added that it may not be anything fancy and hopes that "will be enough."
On Thursday Mars did a press conference at Lincoln Center's Rose Theater in New York City. He said it was just two nights ago he started rehearsing for the Super Bowl halftime show and soon felt the harsh reality of winter weather the east has been getting recently. He said the microphone turned into a popsicle after he went to grab it and noticed it was frozen. Now they are taking all of that into consideration and that is why heaters will literally be on "everything."
As for any secrets being spilled on what fans can expect, the only thing Bruno Mars offered was this:
"I don't trapeze and all that stuff. I hope to get people dancing and get people smiling. if you ever come to my shows, it's just us up there with these songs and our instruments. I hope that's enough."
THR asked Mars if he will be "shouting out to his Hispanic roots" and he answered, "You're gonna see that on Sunday."
Bruno Mars explained why he chose the Red Hot Chili Peppers as part of the Super Bowl halftime show Sunday.
"They're a soulful band -- and not just musically, but as people. I sat down with Flea, and he's so passionate about music. Even to this day, doing it for so long, he's still so passionate about creating music and performing. I want to surround myself with guys like that forever, and it's an honor to share the stage with them. They're one of my personal favorite bands of all time," Mars said.
Bruno Mars has not fully wrapped his head around the fact that he is headlining the 2014 Super Bowl entertainment list. He is grateful for the NFL hiring the "new guy" in the elite music business.
