With the NFL back in full swing, football enthusiasts are already thinking about the always hyped Super Bowl. While fans are busy enjoying comfort food in the midst of that chill in the air, they passionately root for their favorite team. Though football is obviously the main theme of the Super Bowl, most of the talk afterwards is instead about the commercials.....and the halftime show of course. There had been rumors circulating that Bruno Mars may have that headliner spot this year. On Sunday, September 8, the NFL confirmed that Mars is indeed performing at the halftime show at MetLife Stadium in East Rutherford, N.J., on February 2, 2014.
Following the announcement, Mars' took to Twitter to express his excitement.
He tweeted: @BrunoMars WE'RE GOING TO THE SUPER BOWL!!!!!!! #PepsiSBHalftime
The announcement doesn't come as too much of a surprise to many considering Mars' career seems to only be going up at this point. As a 14-time Grammy Award nominee and winner, he is making quite the name for himself. Mars (real name Peter Gene Hernandez), 27, recently took the stage for a performance at the MTV Video Music Awards.
As one might guess, the Super Bowl halftime show is the most watched musical event of the year. Last season, over 110.5 million viewers in the United States tuned in for the halftime show.
So there you have it folks. Before you know it, you can be sitting back with some good company, munching on chips and dip, and watching the "Just The Way You Are" singer commanding attention.
Do you think Bruno Mars is a good choice? Do you plan to watch the 2014 halftime show?
