This past week in Doors Examiner articles, for The Doors fan who may not get to read all the articles and while you’re waiting for the Superbowl to start, one is even audience participation!
Ty Dennis’ band 3 From None is putting together an EP and Doors fans can help get it together and raise money for them to finish it. Ty is funding it through Kickstarter and is looking to raise $5500 to pay for studio time production costs. They’ve released one song “Just a Simple Man” and it is a pretty rocking song and it would be cool to hear the rest of the EP. Doors fans know Ty Dennis because he played with the Manzarek-Krieger Band in all its incarnations including Doors of 21st Century. Now, Ty and the rest of 3 From None want to realize their own rock ’n’ roll dreams and are asking you help, just kick in whatever you can (minimum donations are a dollar!) there are premium gifts available, and you get to help some people realize their dreams and I think when that happens we all win. To donate to 3 From None just go to their Kickstarter site and follow the quick and easy directions, you’ll be done in just over a minute! To read the original Doors Examiner article “ Ty Dennis Project 3 From None Goes to Kickstarter.” I forgot to mention Robby Krieger is featured on one of the songs on the EP!
The Doors and The Beatles were among the biggest and most influential bands of the 60’s but the histories and biographies seem to ignore or overlook any connections between the bands, and at first there doesn’t seem to be any connections but looks can be deceiving to find out “Connections The Doors and The Beatles” you can find out what those connections were!
James Lee Stanley and Cliff Eberhardt were on tour for their CD “All Wood and Doors” in which they cover Doors songs that seem to transcend into acoustic psychedelia. You can read my original review at “Acoustic Tribute to The Doors” or you can buy “All Wood and Doors” at Amazon.
Last weekend Robby Krieger played at the NAMM festival and was the hit of the convention! You can read all the details at “Robby Krieger Goes to NAMM” please also see the video at the top of this article that has an interview with Robby at the show.
This mention may be just a bit outside of the week marker, but it’s a very cool book. Frank Lisciandro’s book “Jim Morrison: Friends Gathered Together” was published January 16th and is doing very good sales. If you would like to read my review see “Absolutely Essential: Jim Morrison: Friends Gathered Together” or you can buy it at Amazon.
