About a dozen blocks were shut down in New York City for Super Bowl Boulevard this past week. It was all part of the Super Bowl pregame activities leading up to the Championship game today between the Denver Broncos and the Seattle Seahawks at MetLife Stadium just outside the city.
Broadway was shut down to traffic between 34th and 48th street from noon to 10 p.m. through yesterday. The attractions included the Super Bowl Virtual Theater at the Macy’s storefront facade at Herald Square.
One of the highlights of Super Bowl Boulevard was the 60-foot tall, 180-foot long Toboggan Run set up in the middle of the street. Thrill-seekers had bought up all the tickets as it was sold out Friday evening.
There was also an NFL shop, NFL Rush Zone and NFL Play 60 experience. NFL players were giving out autographs and bands played on the concert stage. Other attractions were bright, 20 feet tall Roman Numeral lights of Super Bowl XLVIII where fans could take photographs. The Vince Lombardi Trophy was also on display.
