Super Bowl aftermath cocktails

Domination. That is the best word to describe the Seattle Seahawks 43-8 victory over the Denver Broncos in last night's Super Bowl.

The Seahawks transcended the game of professional football, and made it look more like a Big Ten team rolling over a cupcake school in early September.

No matter which side you were cheering for last night while watching the Super Bowl let’s hope we can agree on two things: First, that while most fans outside of Seattle were pulling for Peyton Manning and the Broncos, the Seattle Seahawks played a stellar game and showed no signs of weakness during last night’s Super Bowl deserving the victory. And second, that spring and baseball season are right around the corner which will turn those frowns into smiles in a few short weeks.

Whichever side you are on this morning, the agony of defeat or the thrill of victory, I have two cocktails for either mood:

The long and lonely night

  • Carbonated water
  • 2 oz Gin
  • 1 tblsp Dry Vermouth
  • 1/2 tsp Powdered sugar
  • 1 Orange spiral
  • 1 twist of Lemon peel

Stir powdered sugar and 2 oz. carbonated water in a collins glass. Fill glass with ice, add gin and vermouth, and stir. Fill with carbonated water and stir again. Add the twist of lemon peel and the orange spiral to the rim of glass

We are the champions cooler

  • 2 oz White wine
  • 2 oz Pineapple juice
  • Carbonated water
  • 1/2 tsp Powdered sugar
  • 1 Orange spiral
  • 1 twist of Lemon peel

Put white wine, pineapple juice, powdered sugar, and 2 oz. carbonated water in a collins glass and stir. Add ice cubes, fill with carbonated water, and stir again. Add the lemon peel and the orange spiral so the end dangles over rim of glass.
