Super Bowl recipes in the shape of a football are usually conjured up by the most creative of hosts, but you don’t have to think like Picasso to serve up football shaped food. Wouldn’t you like to be the host that offers up at least one dish on the table that has food shaped like a football to wow your guests this Super Bowl Sunday?

According to NJ.com on Jan 30, Super Bowl football shaped food is not hard to do and folks have come up with some pretty cool ideas on how to do this through the years. One of the easiest foods to shape into a football is a strawberry. Believe it or not, chocolate-covered fresh strawberry shaped footballs are as easy as one-two-three.

The same goes for appetizers. You can create different appetizers for your Super Bowl bash that you can almost see these football-shaped consumables flying over a goal post. Here are some ideas for getting those extra points for your Super Bowl spread.

Football shaped chocolate covered strawberries:

20 large strawberries
6 squares of semisweet baking chocolate (1 oz. each), chopped coarsely.
2 squares of white chocolate for baking (1 oz. each), chopped coarsely.

Use a double boiler to melt the semisweet chocolate. Once melted remove from heat.
Line a cookie sheet with parchment paper. Put a toothpick in the top of the strawberries and dip them into the chocolate, holding them over the pan for the excess to drip off.

Place the strawberries on the parchment paper and refrigerate until coating is hard, about 15 minutes. Melt the white chocolate in a double boiler and remove from heat.

Pour warm white chocolate into a resealable plastic bag. Cut a tiny piece of the corner of the bag. Make sure it is not too big, you basically want to just put a nick in the bag.

Use the white chocolate to draw the stitching on the football by squeezing the white chocolate out of the bag and onto the strawberry. To do this you simply make one line from the top to bottom of the strawberry with a few horizontal small lines crossing this big line from top to bottom. Refrigerate for about 5 minutes and they are ready to serve.

These little sweet footballs will dress up your Super Bowl table.

Football-shaped mini chili dogs appetizers:
Six hot dogs cut in 2-inche pieces
2 small cans or 1 large can of Hormel Chili without beans
2 packages of premade filo dough appetizer cups
1 small bag of string cheese (mozzarella)

Use the pre-made appetizer cups that are in the frozen section of your supermarket (usually near the frozen pie shells).
Cook them as the package directs and when they are done put 1 of the 2-inche pieces of hotdog in the cup. Fill them with warm Hormel Chili. Use mozzarella string cheese to create what looks like the stitches of a football on the top.

Put one line down the center using the cheese and several small lines crossing the big line horizontally to look like stitches. Pop these in a preheated 350 degree oven just until the cheese starts to melt. Take them out quickly. You don’t want the cheese to melt too much so it loses its shape.

Put these on a platter and serve them up to your guests. This will certainly score a touchdown for you!

2 packages (8 oz. each) cream cheese, softened

1 package (8 oz.) shredded sharp cheddar Cheese

1 cup chopped pecans

2 tbsp. Pimiento strips

FORM into football shape and coat with the nuts.
