Super Bowl 2014 alternatives: 'Puppy Bowl,' 'Zombie Bowl,' 'Kitten Bowl,' more

The 2014 Super Bowl is less than a day away, and everyone is getting ready for the football, the food, and the commercials. Well, not everyone. There are some people that have no desire to watch anything that has to do with Super Bowl XLVIII, and that is why the full schedule of alternatives was released on Feb. 1, 2014, and they include the "Puppy Bowl," "Kitten Bowl," and even the "Zombie Bowl."

A number of other networks offer alternative program options specifically for the day that the Super Bowl is on the air, and they want people to know they have choices.

Numerous networks are taking advantage of the homes that don't have football fans in them, and they want people to turn their way. Below is a full schedule of some Super Bowl 2014 alternative programming options if you're not into the big game.

All times listed are Eastern Standard Time.

~ "Puppy Bowl X" - 3:00 p.m.-5:00 a.m. on Animal Planet: A number of participants will take part in games, playtime, running around, and just having a great time. You can watch for hours as they all go after the MVP (Most Valuable Puppy) award that will be given by an online fan vote.

~ "The Zombie Bowl" - 10:00 a.m.-6:00 a.m. on AMC: A marathon of episodes of "The Walking Dead" will get you prepared for season four which begins on Feb. 9, 2014.

~ "The Fish Bowl" - 6:00 p.m.-2:00 a.m. on National Geographic Wild: A single goldfish named Goldie will swim in a fishbowl for the evening. Seriously, that's it.

~ "The Kitten Bowl" - 5:00 a.m.-9:00 p.m.on The Weather Channel: Jim Cantore and Jen Carfagno will be live in Punxsutawney, PA, for Groundhog Day. There will also be celebration weather forecasts for both Denver and Seattle.

Some other options include:

  • "True Detective" on HBO at 9:00 p.m.
  • "Downtown Abbey" on PBS at 9:00 p.m.
  • "Sherlock" on PBS at 10:00 p.m.
  • "Shameless," "House of Lies," and "Episodes" begins on Showtime at 9:00 p.m.
  • "Shrek" movie marathon on TBS starting at 6:00 p.m.
  • "Twilight" movie marathon on FX starting at 6:30 p.m.
  • "Tosh.O" marathon on Comedy Central all evening
  • "Cops" marathon on Spike from 12:00 a.m.-12:00 p.m.
