During the airing of Super Bowl 2013, there was a power outage and viewers were a tad miffed that when it was announced that there is no statement about what the reason was for the lights going out. As of 8:10 pm Central time, there still has been no statement even though most of the electrical equipment is back on.
The incident occurred early in the third quarter and while half of the lights stayed on, the other half went out. During the outage, the 49ers and Ravens stayed on the field. Several were stretching and the cheerleaders kept fans upbeat with their routines.
A public address announcement asked those who attended the game to stay seated while officials spoke with stadium personnel. It is likely that they were discussing why the lights went out and figuring out when the game would resume.
While they said that the delay would be about 15 minutes, players and fans waited about 30 to 40 minutes before the players could resume the game. The power outage even reached the press box.
At the time of the power outage during Super Bowl 2013, the Ravens were in the lead. The score was 28-6 at the time.
