"Linsanity" continues on as New York Knicks point guard Jeremy Lin gave Kobe Bryant and the Los Angeles Lakers a crash course introduction to what basketball fans around the world have been talking about this past week
Lin dropped 38 points and dished out 7 assists as Bryant helplessly witnessed the Taiwanese-American phenom lead the Carmelo and Amare-less Knicks to a 92-85 win over his Lakers in front of a frenzied Madison Square Garden crowd.
Prior to the game, Bryant said he was not aware of what all the hype about Lin was about. On Friday night, he found out first hand and saw himself play second fiddle to the 23-year-old Harvard grad and the NBA's version of "Tebowmania".
Lin took over the starting point guard spot for the Knicks after scoring 25 points off the bench, sparking a 99-92 win over the New Jersey Nets last week.
He followed it up by dropping 28 points on the Utah Jazz after being elevated as a starter, then went 9-14 from the field in D.C. en route to a 23 point, 10 assist performance against last year's #1 draft pick John Wall and the Washington Wizards, capped by an emphatic blow-by dunk that has become viral on Youtube. The Knicks have not lost since Linn's incredible rise from anonimity.
Lin is a Pacquiao fan
Bryant told the press that he isn't impressed just yet with all of Lin's recent accomplishments. Lin and New York couldn't, and shouldn't, care any less.
Lin has re-energized the Knicks franchise and have given them a solution to their point guard problems. Most importantly, the Knicks have won 4 straight games and are back on the hunt for a playoffs spot.
What Lin and Bryant share though, is the fact that both guys are self-proclaimed fans of Filipino boxing icon Manny Pacquiao.
In an interview with ESNEWSReporting.com's Elie Seckback, Lin admitted that he looks up to his fellow Asian and world class athlete. He also favored Pacquiao over Mayweather granted "if we ever see that fight happen."
Filipino Fans Feedback
"Lin is on steroids! 'How can someone not black, be good in BASKETBALL dominated by black people?' All of sudden he became good, out of "nowhere", where was he (LIN) when Kobe was dominating the GAME and if you see KOBE in his early years you would say he would be GREAT as well as MICHAEL JORDAN.. You can't just be GREAT, OVERNIGHT! JERMEY IS JUST MEDIA HYPE' :) Think of it, he must be on something, they have this DRUG in Asia that cannot be detected by random DRUG-TESTING.. They've been using it for hundred of years!"
This must be Floyd's next headliner."

"The difference between Michael Jordan and Kobe Bryant is, Jordan would've known who Jeremy Lin is."
