Super Hero Artist Neal Adams is looking for a real hero to help him retrieve more than 100 sketches that he left in a NYC cab. Mr. Adams, who's comic book work is highly regarded by comic book fans and artists alike, forgot to take a bag containing the artwork with him, when the taxi he was in dropped him off at his location, somewhere in Chelsea on Sept. 4th.
The bag contained two art portfolios containing sketches and artwork of various heros such as Batman, Green Arrow, Green Lantern and several others, and are of great value, not only to the artist but to fans as well. According to Adams, the portfolio contained about 100 to 120 sketches and are worth several thousand dollars on the open market.
Adams and family were hoping to track down the portfolios on their own, but after several days of trying they have decided to ask fans for some help. They've also taken to the streets, plastering flyers all over the Chelsea area, complete with a hand-drawn mug shot of the taxi driver by Adams himself. "We need everyone's help, and hopefully, the artwork will be found," Adams daughter, Kristine told the NY Post.
Adams and the authorities are asking anyone who has info or has found the portfolio to call 212-869-4170. I've had the pleasure of interviewing Mr. Adams on several occasions and he's always been kind to me and very generous with his time— I hope you get your artwork back Mr. Adams.
