Sunshine giving way to increasing clouds with wintry weather arriving tonight (Photos)

High pressure will slide away from the region as the day progresses with increasing clouds ahead of an approaching double barrel low pressure system from the Ohio Valley and mid-Atlantic regions. The storm will move in tonight into Wednesday with a round of mixed precipitation in valley locations and heavy snow across the higher terrain of the Catskills, Green mountains, and the Berkshires. A slow moving upper level low will then linger behind the storm through Thursday with scattered rain and snow showers, potentially bringing additional snow accumulations in the higher terrain.
