The good life is not hard to find in Key West, Florida. No matter where you are on the balmy island you’re only a few minutes away from the sea, and it takes even less time to find a place to have a good meal, a cold drink or a conversation with a fun-loving local. There is one place though that’ll take you a whole whopping six-minutes to get to: the tiny Sunset Key, 500-yards offshore in the Gulf of Mexico and home to the Sunset Key Guest Cottages.

Sunset Key Guest Cottages is a Westin Resort, and one of the brand’s most unique resorts in that you can only get there by boat. That’s easily accomplished though; a 24-hour launch service ferries guests over from the property’s sister resort, the Westin Key West Resort & Marina, which is located right in the heart of the Key West fun/shopping/party zone. So guests can go back and forth as much as they like, whether they’re staying in one of Sunset Key’s 40 cottages or just coming out for a meal or a spa treatment.

Guests who lodge at Sunset Key never have to leave the piece of paradise within paradise if they don’t want to; between the fresh bakery and fruit basket delivered to the cottage each morning and the breakfast-lunch-dinner menus at Latitudes, a place for casual island fare and Caribbean dishes, guests will never be hungry, and there’s even a grocery delivery service available for those with a special craving.

A favorite thing to do at Sunset Key is enjoy a spa treatment. After all, sipping a cocktail at the pool bar, strolling the sandy beach and taking a dip in the gulf, that’s pretty hard work! A day of relaxation can be topped off at the Spa at Sunset Key where a sizable menu includes facial and touch therapy options, traditional and tropical body treatments and the ever-popular couples massage. Every treatment ends with 25-minutes of post-treatment relaxation on a private patio situated amid lush tropical vegetation.

It’s not too difficult to figure out how Sunset Key got its name; sunsets in these parts are nothing short of spectacular almost every night and it is tradition locally to gather to watch the sun go down, preferably with your favorite libation in hand. The exact time of the day’s sunset is always posted at Sunset Key and in many places around Key West.
