Vancouver Washington Sunset on the Columbia River

In summer, the sun sets later and later until the mid-June solstice. This is an ideal time to witness the beauty of sunset over the Columbia River. You'll enjoy barges and sailboats going by. But where can you dine, have a drink or dessert and see the sunset? Vancouver offers you several choices.

Red Lion at the Quay - A little dated, but the restaurant has great windows. A side patio may be open (check before going).
Joe's Crab Shack - Informal seafood and dinner. Patio deck would provide a great view of the sunset.
Husong and Larry's - Next to Joe's Crab Shack. Nice deck. Mexican-American food in a lively (read noisy) atmosphere. They'll sing to you on your birthday!
McMenamin's on the Columbia - Outdoor dining with great pub food. McMenamin's would be my pick for a fun evening watching the sun go down.
Beaches - Next to McMenamin's. A fun place to watch the sunset. Menu is varied... pasta, fish, sandwiches. A bit more upscale than McMenamins.

All of these restaurants are located close to the Columbia River Waterfront Trail. Parking can be tight but it is free and usually available. They are also close to several Vancouver hotels and within walking distance from The Hilton.
