Sunscreen hater! Gisele slammed for calling sunscreen 'poison'

Supermodel Gisele Bundchen is getting labeled a suncreen hater for her recent comments that the sun protection fluid is "poison". At the recent launch of her own skincare line, Sejaa, Gisele told the media that she refuses to the put posionous suncreen on her skin - Irking derms who feel she's sending the wrong message to fans.

DOC: GISELE SUNCREEN COMMENTS WERE FALSE, CONFUSING

"Sunscreen prevents damage to the skin and is of fundamental importance for the prevention of cancer," The Daily Mail quotes Dr. Dolival Loal, head of the National Cancer Institute in Gisele's home country of Brazil. "This is not any poison. When a public person makes a statement like this, it creates confusion."

"HUGE AMOUNT OF DATA" SHOWS SUNSCREEN BENEFITS

American doctors concur, Dr. Kenneth R. Beer leaving comment on New Beauty magazine message boards saying "there is a huge amount of data to point to the fact that sun exposure will not only increase the rate of skin cancer (including melanoma) but also causes wrinkles."

ZINC OXIDE OFFERS "INERT" SUN PROTECTION

Dr. Beer also recommends those looking to shade their skin from the sun search for products with Zinc Oxide, "which is inert and won't react at all," adding that "moderation is the key for sun protection."

GISELE DEFENDS HERSELF AMID SUNSCREEN SCANDAL

Shortly after making comment, Gisele was slammed by skin experts, exasperated by her confusing claims, and updated her blog to reflect the scandal surrounding her chosen means of skincare and sun protection.

GISELE: "MY SKINCARE PRODUCTS  DO NOT CONTAIN SPF"

"I would like to clarify the misunderstanding about the use of sunblock," the 30-year-old mother of one and wife to NFL pro Tom Brady said. "I do use sunblock but also I try my best not to be exposed to the sun when it is too strong. My line of skincare products are all natural and do not contain SPF."

SUPERMODEL WILL "TRY" TO LOOK FOR MORE NATURAL OPTIONS

She adds, "I feel we all need to pay more attention to what we are putting on our skin. I definitely know the importance of using sunscreen and I try to look for more natural options."
