The popular Sunday in the Cemetery concert and lecture series continues at Forest Lawn Cemetery, located at 1411 Delaware Ave. in Buffalo, this February with four programs taking place in the Forest Lawn chapel.
- Sunday, February 3rd at 2 p.m. – Census Records 101 – speaker Rhonda Konig (Grosvenor Room Librarian, Central Library, Buffalo and Erie County Public Library) provides an introduction to using U.S. Federal Census records for genealogy research. Tickets are $15 – seating is limited, and reservations are required.
- Sunday, February 10th at 2 p.m. – The History of the Colored Musicians Club – club president George Scott and his Big Band talk about the history of the club and share the stories and music of the jazz artists who have played at the club. There will also be news about the club’s recently-opened museum. Tickets are $15 – seating is limited, and reservations are required.
- Sunday, February 17th at 2 p.m. – Field Music of the Civil War – a lecture/demonstration featuring the Union Volunteers Fife and Drum Corps. Musical commands and songs will be discussed and performed by uniformed re-enactors on authentic fife and drum replicas; there will also be a slide show of historic photos, drawings and paintings of Civil War field musicians, their lives and their instruments. Tickets are $15 – seating is limited, and reservations are required.
- Sunday, February 24th at 2 p.m. – Buffalo’s Best Restaurants Remembered: The Park Lane – speaker Marla Bujnicki, Master Docent of Buffalo Tours, discusses the famed Buffalo restaurant, with artifacts from the restaurant including old menus and advertising and photos; guests will also enjoy a sample of a Park Lane signature dish. Tickets are $25 – seating is limited, and reservations are required.
