Vancouver, Washington gets its own open street event this weekend with Sunday Streets Alive on August 18, 2013. From 11 am until 3 pm, you can walk, bike, skate, run, dance on a 4.2 mile course through downtown Vancouver and Vancouver's Central Park. Get out on foot or on your favorite non-motorized wheels to enjoy Vancouver's streets.
The route includes seven activity areas at Block 10 in downtown, the Vancouver Community Library, Fort Vancouver, Marshall Center, Clark College, Uptown Village, and John Ball Park. Come join in the fun and games.
The event is free.
Dogs are welcome on leash. Pedestrians have the right of way, so those on wheels are cautioned to yield. You can explore in any direction. Some streets have vehicle traffic in one lane with the Streets Alive traffic in the other.
Parking will be available at Clark College, the Clark County Public Service Center, and in downtown Vancouver, as highlighted on their map page.
Like Portland's Sunday Parkways, this Open Streets project invites citizens to enjoy our streets on foot. It becomes a four-mile long street fair to explore and connect with your community.
