Sunday street style wrap up: Australian street style

When it comes to street style we tend to look for inspiration on the shores of the US. For edgy super chic street style we check out NY out on the east coast. For sexy fiery inspiration we set our sights on the southern tip of the states to Miami. Lastly when we want a laid back boho chic vibe we channel the west coast in CA. How about trying something new and checking out the street style vibe of a continent over 9,000 miles away?

Known for aborigines, dingos and shrimp on the barbie, Australia does host its own fashion week but you never really hear of their awesome street style. Well, at least not here in the Midwest! But maybe it's time we did check out our friends down under. Aussie women have an incredible sense of fashion. There's no one word to label their stylish taste. It's a blend of chic, sophistication, sleek and edgy and always very well put together. It's a conglomerate of different influences but together with an ease that makes you wonder if they just rolled out of bed looking that fabulous!

Australia may have its little know hidden secret in street style but there have been some pretty amazing fashion designers that have emerged from there. Sass and Bide is an Australian company know for their boho luxe inspiration. And we all know Coogi, Billabong and Rip Curl. We definitely need to mention Peter Morrissey who is a judge on Project Runway Australia (Aussie's version of Zac Posen presumably?) and Carla Zampatti who not only produces fashion but back in 1985 redesigned a car for women for Ford Australia (take that Eddie Bauer and Kenneth Cole!). Also how many fashion designers have been on a postage stamp in the US? Zero. In Australia? Six! That's how seriously Australians take their fashion!

Now that you've had a chance to realize it's time to look elsewhere for fashion inspiration, check out the slide show for some Aussie inspiration. And leave a comment as to whether or not you love Australian street style as much as I do or not!
