Texas Tech Rec Center’s annual Lunar Lope gets a little more exciting this year with the supermoon occurring on Sunday, June 23rd. This annual event offers the chance to run a 1-mile or 5k race around the Tech campus at night under the light of a full moon.
The run kicks off at 10pm with late registration and packet pickup occurring from 9pm to 9:30pm at the bonfire pit by the leisure pool entrance. Runners will also be given glowstick wristbands which must be worn during the race. Online registration runs through June 22nd at 10pm. The cost is $15 for Rec Center members and $25 for all others.
Only runners will be allowed on the 5k course. Walkers will be allowed to walk multiple laps on the 1-mile Rec Center path. Children under 12 are welcome, but must be accompanied by an adult at all times. This is an untimed race. So grab some friends and come up for this spirited event.
