Central Ohioans are now able to sign up for insurance through health care exchanges under the Affordable Care Act. To give folks the information they need to navigate the process, the First Unitarian Universalist Church at 93 West Weisheimer Road in Clintonville is hosting an instructional session on Sunday, October 6 at 12:45 p.m.

Individuals who are uninsured or who may lose employer coverage must apply for plans available in Ohio. Depending on income level, qualified individuals may receive up to $2700 (as a tax credit or premium reduction) in 2014. All plans include essential benefits: hospital, outpatient, emergency room, maternity and newborn, preventive care, ambulance, lab tests, rehabilitation, mental health, and prescription drugs.

Premiums will vary according to the level of deductible chosen. Low-cost catastrophic plans are available for young adults. Applications can be made online, by postal mail, or by telephone.

Knowledgeable people who are familiar with the enrollment process for health care access will be available at the October 6 session. An Enroll America organizer, a State Navigator, and a Certified Application Counselor will answer questions about the basic forms of health care, pre-existing conditions, health care language within policies, and financial help.

The instructional session is free and open to everyone. For more information, contact Earl Wurdlow at (614) 296-6304 or earlword@yahoo.com.
