Sunday Dialogue: Certified Christians

"Be a Certified Christian"
"Be a Certified Christian"

What is a certified Christian? How do Christians become certified? Here is something for you to think about and study this week. Are you sure you are a Christian? If your life was called for this week, and God asked you why He should let you into His heaven what would you say? We are not promised any tomorrows.

Those who are of a non-Christian faith often have their own ideas of what Christians may or may not be. They would merely put them all into one category – people who believe in Christ in some form or another. It does not mean they are actively engaged in living the Christian life but that they associate themselves with that religion. Non-believers in God usually put Christians of all types in a bad light; using the Holy Scripture themselves to deny the validity of the belief.

They refer back to the middle ages where Christianity was hijacked and kidnapped to be used against people in bad ways; that still is happening all over the world today; but they are more commonly known as “cults.” Many leaders in the middle ages considered themselves the direct spiritual successors of the Apostles; not just for the teachings of Christ but for the authority over the people in all areas of their lives.

Martin Luther who began the Protestant Reformation became convinced from reading the Bible that man alone was responsible for his relationship with God and accountable for his own behavior based on God’s Word. He saw no evidence from the Bible where mankind had to answer to any other man or authority but to God alone.

When people began to pull away from dictatorial hierarchy and began forming their own methods of worship and without a human authority over them, they made decisions on their own and there arose many different denominations based on the same principles of the Bible – mostly – but also added their own individual tenets to their mix. Some believe in baptism by immersion; others by sprinkling. Some believed in observing the Lord’s Supper every time they met; while others felt it was sufficient to honor that special sacrament on a more spread out basis. Some included foot washing as a part of their observance. Some would excommunicate members for not following the tenants of their particular religion.

America was founded on Christian principles and that is reflected in just about every document written in the early years of the formation of this nation. The founders acknowledged God, referred to God often; while at the same time passed laws that prohibited a state church – a church that would dictate to everyone how they should believe and worship. America was blessed.

In the 1920’s there began a movement across the nation that denied God, denied that Jesus even existed; much less the fact that He was the son of God and died on a cross for the sins of the individuals. America began to lose His blessings.

By the 1960’s, when the sexual revolution and sheer insanity of that era, atheist chose not to believe in God rather than to live by His Word; and then soon it was not just enough they chose not to believe, they didn’t want anyone else to believe either. It was like as long as others believed things were wrong that made it wrong; but if they could overturn the teachings of God in the minds of others then sinning would no longer be wrong.

Like it or not – atheism became a religion of its own. Not unlike individual churches and faiths, they have their mantra and they take away the deity of God in creation and apply it to man once again. American fell for that and God withheld even more blessings when it became contrary to God’s law; but sanctioned by man’s law to kill innocent pre-born babies. Man’s law will never supersede God’s law. And all attempts will meet with the justice of God.

Over the last few decades, it has been their mantra, faith, denomination to rid America of any semblance of faith in God; while other religions like Islam has been proliferating all across the nation. Nothing exists in a vacuum; when one thing moves out – other moves in.

The world does not function without God. Scientist can only study what God created and God created scientist; and He created everything they use to try and deny His existence.

Since Jesus was so horribly killed by being nailed to a cross; Christians all over the world have been persecuted, murdered, tortured and exploited. Now we see the total reason for the existence of Islam is to eradicate Christians all over the world – and Jews – the people from whom God chose to bring forth His Son, Jesus

Because of America’s long heritage of Christianity, some people think if they are not Jewish, Islamic, Buddhist, or Hindu, they by process of elimination are Christians. Some misguided folks believe because their parents and grandparents before them were Christian – they are automatically a Christian at natural birth. That is not what the Bible teaches and the Bible is the sole authority on Christianity.

Let’s take a look at some of the descriptions that might apply to a “Certified Christian.”

What does certify mean? To certify someone or some organization it means they have be officially recognized by someone or something as possessing certain required qualifications or meeting certain standards. Many occupations require certificates of certification before a people can work within the confines of that occupation. A few examples of those are: Certified Public Accountants, Certified Automobile Dealerships, Certified Instructors of CPR, Certified Personal Trainer, or a Certified Candidate for public office. God does not require that. We could never measure up n our own. We cannot save ourselves.

To certify something it means that it has been confirmed as true, accurate or genuine in what they are doing. Taking an oath on the witness stand is a type of certifying something.

We constantly have to certify documents with our signature; and in the case of government forms, do fail to do so, or to do so erroneously, can result in fines or imprisonment. To swear to a lie on a witness stand, will result in perjury charges once the hand is raised and the oath of truth taken.

Dictionary definition of Certification:

“Certification provides independent verification of a certain level of expertise in a particular area. Basically, it means you have completed the steps required to receive a particular designation. But this basic definition comes with a weakness--in some cases, individuals can become "certified" simply by paying a particular membership fee or by attending the required seminar. Such certifications are meaningless and a waste of time and money.

Certifications that mean something are about achieving designations that demonstrate to your employer and/or clients that you are, indeed, an expert in a particular area or areas, and that a reputable, recognizable organization is willing to attest to that.”

In some cases a person has to be “Board Certified” which means a certification must be handed down by group of more than one person; and from a representative board who can qualify that a person should be allowed to be certified; such as a physician.

What are the three most common forms of certificates? Birth, marriage, and death certificates are required in every state in America. All of these events have to be certified by registering them at the local courthouse where these events take place.

So how does a person become a “Certified Christian” when no laws or requirements like those above are required? A Christian becomes certified by a different kind of certificate than a new born baby – when they become re-born into the Kingdom of God. It takes an act of the will and is based upon a statement that one believes in the Christ and His work on the cross which provides the certification in Heaven. But it goes further. A Certified Christian will no longer live a life that is unpleasing to God; but according to the principles recorded in the Bible. A certified Christian is who has been certified by God and given an exchanged life (birth) here on earth and eternal existence in the world to come.

Now I ask, are you sure you are “certified?” Do you bear the “Stamp of Approval” by God in acknowledging who He is and accepting the Sacrifice of His Son for the erasing of your sins which is the only way to enter heaven? We used to sing a little song that went, “If you are saved and your know it, say “Amen!” But the final lyrics are: “If you’re saved and you know it then your life will surely show it.”

God does not save people just to give them a ticket to heaven or to keep them out of hell. His words says, “I have come that you might have life – and have life abundantly – meaning life on this earth.” He said He did not come to destroy the law; but to fulfill it.

To become a “Certified Christian,” there no fees that have to be paid by the recipient; the full cost has already been paid. You don’t need a green card, a Social Security card, proof of immunization, or a passport. Jesus took care of all of that the day He died and then came back to prove His power over death.

The only proof of your certification as a “Certified Christian” is the way you live your life. A “Certified Christian” will lead an exchanged life. God through His son, Jesus, will become your focus and your life will show it.

Then there is one other procedure – may times you have to be licensed according to man’s law. Some of those licenses are: Drivers, business, marriage, hunting, or fishing to name a few. These are just documents that give you permission to do what they were written for; and there are rules attached to all.

Being a Christian does not give you a license to continue living a life of sin. Committing a sin and living a life of sin are two different things. We will continue to sin as long as we breathe because we have a sinful nature and live in a fallen sinful world.

Claiming to be a Christian does not give you the license to life your life just any old way – the same way as before becoming a Christian. God does not look favorably on us when we make excuses for our sins by saying things like, “I am only human – no points with God – He knows that He created you.” We aren’t to say, “I just made a bad choice, an error in judgment, or a mistake; thinking that absolves us from the consequences of sin”.

And then there is the permit part of this conversation. That is a document that gives you permission to do a certain thing like own a gun, build a house, or park your car. But there are no permits with God that allows a Christian to live an ungodly life. The old-timers used to say – “The proof is in the pudding!”

When you become a “Certified Christian,” you receive the indwelling of the Holy Spirit, a new consciousness of God’s Word, and the way you live your life in private and in front of others. The difference in your sinning before and after accepting Christ is that “exchange life.”

Your life will change as your thinking changes and your lifestyle will change and there will be little doubt in the eyes of others that you have become not a devout Christian to rules and regulations made by man; but that you have received a new life in Christ. That is what is meant by the new birth. You will have a new birth certificate and it will be recorded in the Lamb’s Book of Life that will permit you to enter into heaven.

So just what is a Certified Christian?

The name Christian was not originally a name of praise and honor; but slurred cast at the disciples in Antioch, a city in the Bible, where those who were making fun of them would say, “Look, there goes one of those Chris – ti – ans – those followers of Jesus. A Certified Christian is not just someone who says they believe in Christ….. even the devil believes and he trembles. It is not a conscious verbal expression; but a heart expression. We have two hearts – a physical one and a spiritual one – God wants our spiritual hearts – our souls.

A Certified Christian is one who is sold out to Christ – one who follows Him wherever He leads them, one who reads His Words, who feeds the hungry, and clothes the naked, those who look after the needs of the widows and the orphans, one who goes out into the highway and hedges and invites people to come and know the Savior, one who follows the Great Commission and goes to the uttermost parts of the world sharing the Gospel.

One who loves others more than themselves; one who lives a life pleasing to God before their fellowman, one who is secure in their Salvation because they know whom they have believed and knows that He is able to keep that which they have committed unto Him against that day – the day of reckoning. A Certified Christian is a one who keeps the Commandments as much as they can and when they fail recognizes their failure and repents and asks God for daily forgiveness as stated in the Lord’s Prayer – forgive me Lord as I forgive those who trespass against me.

A Certified Christian is one who loves Christ above all else and everyone else and enjoys the company of other Christians and not emissaries of satan. A Certified Christian is one who carries Jesus in their heart, mind. body and soul and they do not take Jesus where He ought not to go himself/herself.

To go deeper into what a Certified Christian is you may find it helpful to read the God’s Word for yourself. Below is an excellent web page that will help you go deeper into these answers.

For a more adequate description of who is a Christian can be explained in the same place where these quote came from; It begins with what a Christian is NOT.

1. Common answer number one—Salvation is by good works.

2. Common answer number two - Salvation is by heredity.

3. Common answer number three—Salvation is by religious activity.

4. Common answer number four—Salvation is by profession of faith or by mere mechanical actions such as walking an aisle in an evangelistic crusade or praying a certain prayer.

5. Common answer number five—You just can’t know whether or not you are saved.

6. Common answer number six—Every human being is a Christian and will most certainly go to heaven.

”First of all the Bible declares that a Christian is a person who has been radically changed by the power of God. Many different Bible phrases enunciate this truth about a Christian.

Some verses assert that a Christian is a person who has been created anew in Christ Jesus (II Corinthians 5:17; Ephesians 4:24; Colossians 3:9, 10; Ephesians 2:10; Galatians 6:15).

Other Bible verses aver that a Christian is a person who has become a partaker of the Divine nature (II Peter 1:2-4). This means that when a person becomes a Christian he receives a new nature from God. It is divine in two senses. It is created and put within us by God (James 1:17); it is divine in that it is a holy nature even as God’s nature is holy (I John 2:29; 3:7; I Peter 1:15, 16).

Still other Bible verses testify that a Christian is a person who has been begotten or born of God (James 1:18; I John 5:1; John 1:12, 13).

Then too, the Bible states that a Christian is a person who has been regenerated or made to live again (Titus 3: 5)

In addition to this, the Scriptures affirm that a Christian is a person who has passed from death unto life and been quickened from the dead (John 5:24, 25; Ephesians 2:1; Colossians 2:13; Luke 15:24, 32).”

If you really want to know what a Certified Christian really is and if you are in fact a Certified Christian you may want to spend some times this week reading what the scriptures above reveal. Put away the TV Guide, the IPhones and Ipads, and the Social networks and read the messages of God's heart to yours and be assured of your Salvation; and if not, learn how you can be.
