“If the new Gospel CD titled Sunday Christian’s sounds like soothing words straight from the Pulpit, it’s because they really could be.” That selection is one of many to come from the forthcoming, full album titled "Southern Hospitality", which will be released in April, 2014. The multi-talented Edwrin Sutton and his team released “Sunday Christian” earlier in January, 2014.
“This up and coming, hot single has a feel distinctively of its own indeed.” It’s an honest cross between easy listening, even toned tempo and a unique flow to boot. The words are carefully placed and easy to swallow because of their realness. Imagine listening to a Sunday morning sermon where the Pastor is trying to wake up his or her, congregation by making them aware of some uneven shifts in their behavior. “Sunday Christian” begs the question: “how can we have one attitude and be on our best behavior, but easily lead a reign of terror in the lives of others, throughout the week?”
But getting back to this interesting Man of God, Pastor Edwrin Sutton, whom this Writer had the pleasure of meeting initially, while reviewing the Techmoja Dance and Theater Company Production of “The Color Purple”.(Directed by Kevin Lee-Y Green) Not only did he play the role of “Harpo”, as the kids say: “He slammed it!” But of course there is more to this amazing review than that.
Edwrin Sutton was born in Columbus County North Carolina in June of 1986. By age 5, his vocal talents were revealed and the open fountain of talent didn’t stop there by any means. He has played the keyboard since the tender age of 12 and writing songs since he was 15.Genetically gifted in the vast music arena, with a plethora of Musicians and Psalmists in his family too. “In fact, the late Legendary Otis Redding is one of his cousins.”
The overall blessed and unique journey of Edwrin Sutton has touched various dynamics- and each as successful as the last one. For example, as a recording artist at the age of 15, he toured with a local Quartet group named “Justified”. Even serving as one of the group’s Lead Singers, their key Songwriter and Keyboard Player.
Later on in his career Edwrin Sutton earned the opportunity to further gifts, but in the theatrical arena. So far, in the Performing Arts he has been granted main roles in some very notable productions.
Including but not limited to some Techmoja Theatre and Dance Company Productions: “Dream Girls” where he played the role of James “Thunderbird” Early. The role of Jesus Christ in “Jesus Christ Superstar” and was cast as the timeless villain “Harpo” in the often controversial “Color Purple.” The Techmoja productions were cast under the directions of another noted Industry name, Kevin Lee-Y Green. Add to that an impressive roster of other performing arts and Acting roles
Sutton is a traveling Evangelist, Pastor and the Founder/Spiritual Leader of “John 10:10 Ministries” which is based in Leland, North Carolina.
In the Music Ministry arena, Pastor Sutton has shared the stage with many mainstream personalities & performers such as; Dr. Jamal Bryant, Pastor Tracey Troy, Earnest Pugh, Shirley Murdock, Daryl Coley, Luther Barnes, Dorothy Norwood, Keith “Wonderboy” Johnson and KeKe Wyatt. Just when this “real life story” which has always been scripted by God couldn’t get any better – add the blessing of bine a featured Preacher for the noted “Word Network” on numerous occasions.
The man who bears the Christian name of Edwrin Sutton and a small bevy of others such as; Musician, Psalmist, Songwriter, Preacher, Husband to Lady Nakia Sutton, Community Advocate and “true friend”, the name which he’d always first, rather be known as is “Servant of the Lord” Now as in most successful stories, as they go on more chapters are added… So “Stay Tuned!”
