Jewish Fest, a family oriented Jewish outdoor fair, will be held Sunday and Monday September 5th and 6th in Litchfield, CT, an easy two hour drive from New York. The fair will include: musical performances; arts and crafts projects for kids and artist and artisan vendors, including decorative jewelry, ceramics, glassworks, painting, whimsical one-of-a-kind originals, mixed-media designs, unique children's gifts and other distinctive creations for grown-ups; and kosher food. Shabbat Factory

Each participant receives a candle holder and decorates it using his/her own creativity. The candle holder is taken home and can be used to light Shabbat candles on Friday night.
Jewish Sand Art
Sand art using various Jewish themes or symbols.
Yarmulke Factory
Each participant receives a bland yarmulke or kippa. Materials are supplied and he/she may decorate the yarmulke any which way.
Shofar Factory
Participants receive a ram's horn and transform it into a kosher shofar by sanding, cleaning and painting it.
Havdallah Factory
Participants dip candle string into hot bees' wax and weave together the thin waxed strings to create a traditional Havdallah candle.
Participants make a fragrance holder for use in the Havdallah ceremony by pressing bits of clove spice into foam balls.
Menorah Factory
Wood, bullets, hammer and nails: these tools are used to make a long lasting sturdy Menorah.
Matzah Bakery
A model of an actual Matzah bakery will be on premises so participants can see how Matzah is made from the forming of the dough until the Matzah is baked. And...
Transformation Station - become a new version of yourself with face painting.

"Litchfield, CT, an easy drive from New York"
But not from L.A. Too bad, I always wanted to make my own shofar.
Great program, go there annually, worth the Schlep from anywhere!
