Basic Urban Beekeeping Certification Workshop
Fridays March 8th, 15th, 22nd & 29th, 2013 - 6 p.m. to 9 p.m.
Cost is $30
This 12 hour class spread over 4 installments will cover everything you need to know to pass your certification test and run a healthy hive. Honey bee history, pollination, equipment, how to start, pests & diseases, treatment and feeding, swarming, preparing for the honey flow, spring, summer & fall management. Cheesemaking 101 Workshop
Saturday, March 16th, 2013 - 11:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m.
Cost is $35
Trish Vieira of Spokane Family Farms will demonstrate how to make Greek style yogurt and mozzarella cheese. This class is also an introduction to bacteriology: the benefits of using good bacteria in food and how this is supplied naturally in yogurt. She will also demonstrate how to make fresh mozzarella cheese in your kitchen in only 30 minutes.

Intro to Chicken Keeping Workshop

This class will cover the chicken keeping regulations in the Spokane area, how to house, select, feed and care for your flock, raising baby chicks, and egg production.

Planting Tomatoes from Seed Workshop
Saturday, March 23, 2013 – 3 p.m. to 5 p.m.

Learn to grow strong tomato seedlings from WSU Master Gardener Marilyn Carothers. Avoid leggy week plants with the techniques she’ll teach via a PowerPoint presentation, hands-on activities, demonstrations and displays. You’ll take home a seed-planted tomato.
