AKRON, OH – April 2012 – Appearances by the ever-popular Walkaround Cookie Monster from Sesame Street and SteveSongs from PBS Kidswill highlight this year's Western Reserve PBS & Summit Mall Family Expo Saturday, April 14 from 10 a.m.-5 p.m. at Summit Mall in Fairlawn. Family Expo is one of the featured public events of the 25th Annual “Child & Family Awareness Month©” Celebration in April, coordinated by Summit County Children Services.

Live shows featuring SteveSongs will take place at Noon, 2 p.m. and 4 p.m. on the event stage. ‘Meet-n-greet’ sessions with SteveSongs will take place at 12:30 p.m., 2:30 p.m. and 4:30 p.m. 'Meet-n-greet' sessions with Walkaround Cookie Monster will take place at 10:15 a.m., 11:15 a.m., 1 p.m., and 3 p.m.

Family Expo will feature a wide variety of family-focused entertainment plus nearly 60 information booths located throughout Summit Mall. The event is free and open to the public, and is sponsored this year by the Akron Area YMCA, the CASA/GAL Program of Summit County and the County of Summit ADM Board.

"A Family is Shoes that Walk Me Through Life" is the theme of this year’s 25th Annual Child & Family Awareness Monthcelebration being held throughout April. The month features a series of family-fun activities and educational events planned by more than 150 local agencies, organizations, places of worship, businesses and individuals dedicated to building a solid foundation of community support for children and families and helping raise awareness of child abuse prevention.
